Called twice to confirm they had Peking Duck. When we got there they did not. Got up and left. Waste of time.

Um, well...hmm... First off, if you're a vegetarian, you have no business eating here. Most Chinese restaurants have veggie options, but not here. Don't even bother. The soups and rice choices that come with the Lunch Combo are only meaty, and they won't substitute. We were offered a spring roll for an extra .75 cents even though we were declining the two menu items that came with our meal. Really? Ok, then. Most people would say that our service was abrasive and maybe even rude. I chalk it up to cultural differences. Yes, our server was curt and short, but I really don't think it was her intent. She came off as pretty unfriendly though, despite our smiles and plans for an enjoyable lunch. I really do think it's just the way she is though. It doesn't make it right, but I certainly didn't take it personal. The Shrimp with Lobster sauce comes with pork. The menu doesn't say it, so just be aware of that in case you are adverse to pork. My husband ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp and something was wrong with the pineapple. He bit into one, and at first thought it was cold, but then realized it was tangy, and probably old. So, he pushed it all aside. Be aware of that. If you are looking for American Chinese food with a LOT of meaty options (quite a sizable lunch menu), and don't care about abrupt service, you will love this place. Every restaurant has a place for someone, but this one just wasn't for us. We won't be back. (It's been 30 minutes since I ate lunch here, and my stomach just exploded, if you get my drift. WOW!)

I love this place...regularly pick up a wonton soup and an egg roll to go for lunch. Delivery is quick and arrives hot....they even deliver to me in Boynton! I usually order the chicken in garlic sauce with only peppers and light onions....always get the order right and never give me trouble for being picky. My boyfriend orders the roast pork with mixed veggies...he's picky too no broccoli and no mushrooms....again never a problem always arrives correct. Haven't tried anything else with the exception of the steamed dumplings which i thought were gross. Our go to for simple quick chinese when we don't want to cook!

Walked in at 9:05 and they close at 9:30. They were very unhappy we walked in. "do you serve, we asked. Be quick was their response". We walked out. Either change your hours of operation, hire different people, or serve. My guess is with this attitude they won't be around when I return to the area.

Bird Nest has a limited menu of traditional Americanized Chinese food. All the basics. Very limited pork and seafood selection. We ordered "twice cooked pork" and Szechuan chicken, both of which were claimed to be some of their 'HOT' dishes. These two dishes were completely devoid of any spice. They were both bland and all around below average in quality. Our delivery order arrived within 15 minutes (not a good sign at 7:00pm on a Friday night) and our food was practically cold halfway through the meal. If you want quality, flavor, a varied menu or any sort of spice added to your Chinese dining experience, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

We went with an elderly relative. They have a lobster special ($20ish). I ordered lobster Cantonese style in a mis-guided burst of nostalgia for the Chinese food of my youth. I soon realized I should have stuck with the steamed kind. The menus were greasy, the fried wantons were way to big and thick and tasteless. My hubby barely ate any of his food. Mediocre at best

We have never eaten at this restaurant, but get take-out delivered regularly. Always hot and fresh, good Chinese food. There are quite a lot of Chinese places in this area, but this is one of our favorites. They are always fast to deliver and give us something free on a large order.

With Delray Beach being home to many, many, MANY of our retired, former New York dwelling parents, there are LOTS of Chinese restaurants around. Almost as many as there are golf shops and podiatry clinics (ha!). This place is clean and friendly.... and the prices are certainly reasonable (very important for the fixed income crowd). For around twelve bucks you can get a choice of many combination plates including soup (won ton, egg drop, or sweet and sour), an egg roll, fried rice, an entree from a choice of around thirty, and ice cream with fortune cookies for dessert. The portions are huge and the food is tasty enough (although a bit salty). My only complaint is that the fried rice had no veggies in it. But the pistachio ice cream more than made up for it.

The food was ok, but the old lady that served me kept bugging me for a tip, and reminding me that I had to give her a tip. I won't go back.

Very forgettable Chinese food that unfortunately is par for the course in this neck of the woods. Interior is quite spacious and quiet. Owner is friendly and talkative. Excellent location in the shopping center at Military and West Atlantic. Low quality chicken and basic entrees lacking any real taste are what you will encounter here.

I have been to many Chinese restaurant, but never looked as elegant, neat and clean like this one. I wanted bourbon chicken but they didn't have it, well I was surprised that they didn't have it what I am saying is they don't have a lot on the menu

I like the Bird Nest Tree. It is a typical mom and pop Chinese restaurant with good food, and a real nice team. We always get a free won ton soup or egg roll with our take out or delivery order. The inside of the restaurant is a little run down - but that is the area and the shopping plaza as a whole. It is not like it is in downtown Delray or Mizner Park. It is in King's Point Central so lots of elderly early birds to navigate around. I would recommend the szechuan beef (ask for it med spicy as it is not spicy unless requested) and the sweet and sour chicken. They deliver for free.

For those who rated it low, I have some tips: 1. Don't show up 20 minutes before a restaurant closes for sit-down service. That's just plain rude, and, though the waitstaff showed their lack of appreciation, it doesn't excuse your lack of consideration for timing. 2. This Chinese restaurant is in the middle of Retirement Central in Delray Beach. Be prepared to order things "extra hot" or "Chinese hot" if you want them to be even remotely spicy. The folks making the food are used to retirees who will kvetch and moan about it being too spicy if it's made even remotely like it's supposed to. 3. I have yet to see a Chinese restaurant in this area that isn't an Americanized Chinese menu. This one steers more toward Hong Kong style and will have a few things you don't see on all menus in the area (Char Siu Ding for example), and if you engage the waitstaff just a tiny bit, you can get some adjustments made to the food so that it's at least a little more authentic. 4. Don't be a jerk and you'll get freebies if you order regularly. Seriously. You would be surprised at how often we're given free egg rolls or potstickers on a take-out order from this place because we're nice on the phone and in person. It's surprising how easy it is for this to happen when you're going to a restaurant whose main customer population happens to be cranky old folks. 5. If you're coming in for a sit-down lunch/dinner, be aware that there are small booths (2-4 people max), square four-tops and round tables that can seat up to, oh, 6 or 8 people. Don't bring your 20-person baseball team and expect to not be separated into a few different tables, and remember that this is a small restaurant. You may have to wait a bit if it's busy.

Awful Chinese food. Literally the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. Yuck! The beef in the beef and broccoli I had did not taste like beef... Um... what?! There is also no age diversity in this restaurant. ALL OLD PEOPLE. Literally not one young person in there!

Settle down. All you people need to think about what your reviewing. bird nest always comes through in the clutch. I only order takeout and it is always solid and they always throw me 2 free egg rolls. Who eats in an indie Chinese Resturant in a strip mall??? What are you expecting in there??? PF Changs???

this is a hit or miss place. we decided to hit it one more time. well we shouldn't have. we ordered egg drop soup, fried rice, spare ribs, and lobster with ginger and scallions. the soup was a yellow ,salty, gloppy liquid with a wonton drowned in it. the fried rice was tasteless and mushy...enough said about that. the lobster was coated with a flour that adhered to it like crazy glue adheres to any substance. the lobster tasted old, mushy, greasy and oily. i think it was as old as the bp oil spill and tasted like it was cooked in the petroleum residue removed from the gulf of mexico. the spare ribs were dry and tough. and the best thing is that the ribs didn't match. they could have been left over cuts or the remains of other peoples orders. but i don't think this crowd would leave without their doggie bags. i don't see any dog eating meat this dry and tough. the egg?? rolls?? mushy, cold with enough sodium to raise your blood pressure levels to make the fda be concerned. i really didn't want to write this review. the lady that owns this place is a very nice person. but at the same time i don't like throwing money away on terrible food. i guess i won't be missing this place any more.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
